Kate is a mother to four children, all with different temperaments and needs. She totally understands how sleep deprivation and exhaustion affects our daily lives. Through her career as a nurse for fifteen years, she has gained experience and an extensive understanding for how critical sleep is. Her appreciation in this allows her to empathise, reassure and mentor parents and caregivers on their child’s sleep journey.
Where is Kate based, can she visit me in my home?
Kate is based in central Auckland, but additional travel charges apply if more than 10 km outside of central Auckland.
She can also work remotely via email, facetime and over the phone. This enables her to support clients both nationally and internationally.
What age of babies and children does Kate work with?
Kate consults babies from 8 weeks of age through to children up to 3 years of age.
Can I breastfeed whilst sleep training?
Yes of course you can.
Will sleep training match my parenting style and my sleep goals?
Kate understands how personal and emotional each individual’s sleep journey is. Each child and family are unique.
Through her training, knowledge and extensive experience she has learnt many different techniques and methods to support your beliefs, parental style and working together makes goals achievable.
What is safe healthy sleep?
Kate practises and also advocates the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines for healthy safe sleep practice in conjunction with The Ministry of Health NZ guidelines. https://www.health.govt.nz
Can I continue to room share whilst sleep training?
Kate can work with families and caregivers who have the cot by the bedside or babies or toddlers who share a room with siblings.
Do you guarantee success?
Kate cannot make a baby or child go to sleep, but through her knowledge, expertise and experience, will teach and support the parents or caregivers, assured that they have the knowledge and understanding to implement safe sleep on their child’s sleep journey.
She cannot wave a “magic wand” or advocate a “quick fix”, but will suggest ways and offer guidance and advice to support and understand your personal needs.
What is my accreditation?
Kate is a qualified baby and young infant sleep consultant. She studied here in New Zealand. The training is an international accredited programme.
For over 15 years Kate worked as a registered general nurse and has experience, understanding and knowledge regarding the science around sleep, how it affects our mind, development and wellbeing.
